Answers:
1: go to start > setting > system > today > items. from here you can add and remove items from the today screen.
2: Settings > system > notifications . here you can set the ringtones.

Ps. you can always also when in the file explorer, highlight the song or sound and press menu then go down to set as ringtones. but if you want to set a sound or song for a message alert. you are going to have to copy the the file and paste it into the windows file. that way then you can go back to the notification screen and set it as a alert.
