Works on mine: BUT, use caution. If you do not have the AT&T tethering plan, you can get caught and will have to pay big $.
Connect the Tilt to your PC...do not start Windows Mobile Device Center.
START...PROGRAMS...INTERNET SHARING...then select CONNECT...wait for the screen to show CONNECTED.

Please when you tether remeber only to watch it. surfing the Internet, Youtube and basic computering is fine.
Now when you start to get in to the downloading large file music, movies, and playing games on the internet.
My buddy had a bill where at&t charged him out of the A$$ for his data usage.
AT&T watches the trend of your data usage very closely. Right now I have my Iphone tethered to my laptop while i type this to you.

You can use either bluetooth or USB to connect your Tilt to your PC.
Where you get in trouble is the amount of data you are streaming thru your Tilt when it is connected to your PC.
The point is, if you want to use your Tilt as a modem, you probably should get the tethering plan from AT&T, or, take your chances that you wont get caught.
I only tether my Tilt when I run a speed test to see how fast (or slow) HSDPA is running where I live.

I only run USB tether charge while I do it.
But remember to look at the cost of tethering. if you plan on doing it, get the tethering plan.

If you're the proud owner of a Tilt and another HTC Windows Mobile 6 Professional device like the HTC TyTN II, you will notice some differences in the stock Windows Mobile operating system. For one thing, on the stock HTC model, you would have Internet Connection Sharing, an application that allows for laptop owners to "share" the internet connection established by the Tilt via Bluetooth or USB. On the Tilt, AT&T replaced the Internet Connection Sharing application with Wireless Modem. While I haven't been able to connect to the internet via Bluetooth on my Mac over the Tilt's connection on Wireless Modem, Internet Connection Sharing was pretty seamless for me. However, other users over at XDA-Developers have noted that the main difference is that Internet Connection Sharing will allow you to answer the phone and be connected on your laptop at the same time. Also, with Internet Connection Sharing, you can have wireless on your phone and on your laptop. With Wireless Modem, you can't do that according to some users, which I am unable to confirm as I can't get Wireless Modem working for myself.
The great news is that if you haven't tethered to your Tilt to use your AT&T Tilt as a Wireless Modem, you can try out Internet Connection Sharing. Forum members have been able to extract the program so that you can re-enable Internet Connection Sharing on your Tilt. You can download the cab file here, copy it to your device through ActiveSync, and install it from your device. Just pair the device for Bluetooth to your computer, and hit connect or plug in the USB cable--no additional settings are needed.
