Can anyone confirm if the AT&T HTC Tilt will hit stores on September 3?What's the scoop on it. i'm really excited for it.

So based off of the HTC website, if you live in the US you can't buy it from them? The US is not in their drop down list.

According to Endgaget, the official release for Europe is in October and they expect US carriers to follow within a few weeks of that. Locked phones from US carriers will probably cost around $500 and will differ somewhat from HTC's software package. A number of electronics .com's are advertising they will have unlocked Kaisers available for shipping on or around September 10 in the US, almost all of them selling for around $800. See Elite-Electronix, Mobile and the like. (I've never bought from them and can't endorse, just relaying what they advertise.)

Popular Electionics.com says the tilt/4550/kraiser/tytn II will be on sale starting sept 10. They have the lowest price so far around 798 if I remember correctly. Samstores.com should have it soon, they meet or beat prices.

Well... the good news is that a lot of online electronics retailers have now confirmed they will receive their first shipments of Kaisers by 9/10 - Elite Electronix says their tracking info shows they will have them on the 7th. The bad news is that if you didn't pre-order way early and make your payment with the order, you'll probably be waiting at least another couple of weeks for the next shipments; the retailers all apparently have far more pre-orders to fill than phones due in. I pre-ordered with Elite Electronix several weeks ago but opted not to pay until the order was ready for shipping, and they told me today I definitely wouldn't get my phone from their first shipment, hopefully from their next shipment expected sometime the 3rd week of September at this point. Popular Electronics said they will have 60 Kaisers in on the 10th but they were pretty vague on how well they expected to meet demand and/or fill their pre-orders. Mobile commented that they have THOUSANDS of Kaisers on back order and said "it's a ridiculously popular phone."

Are you certain Elite-Electronix said the 7th? Their web site still says the 6th. Dash it I hope it's the 6th as this has been one long wait.

Huh. Wish I had seen this yesterday before paying for my order at Elite Electronix. The VAT (UK sales tax?) does kick the price up a bit, though, and I'm sure shipping is a bit more expensive too. I didn't realize how strong the pound had gotten, or how weak the dollar... When I looked this morning they had 97 units in stock posted. Oh well.

But.... Damme. I cheaped out on the shipping little realizing how anxious I would be to get it. The earliest I can expect it is Monday or maybe Tuesday.

OK, fellas, I e-mailed HTC and asked about the Kaiser. Here's the response I got:

spoke to several stores around philly area and tried to get somneone at ATT corp or telesales dept. they got shitty with me and said no and they would not hear of it til release date. sure...
most of the stores guys were clueless - prob signed a " we'll cut your balls off if you talk" agreement... one guy had heard of and was expecting any day but no firm dates.
there is of course the commission issue - have to sell what's on the shelves now.
got nowhere and returning my 8525 i got last friday. have to use a fliphone for now... ouch. if this goes past oct 1 i'll be pissed.

I was willing to accept AT&T's decision to ditch the video conferencing camera, may or may not have been willing to overlook their crippling the full functionality of the GPS, but have you seen the hideous changes they've made to their 8925? What's with those glaringly white buttons on the keypad?!?!? Say it ain't so!!! Do they think that we mere mortals couldn't find the embedded number keypad without it?

Actually the store's statement is not accurate. The GPS is enabled on the Tilt. It's true that a link to install Telenav is pre-installed on the Tilt, but the Tilt is not crippled in any way. It works with Google Maps for WM, it works with TomTom and other GPS software right out of the box. The only software AT&T offers and supports is the subscription versions of Telenav.

Hey i just got a new tilt from FRY'S. a few days latter i was at the AT&T store and the guy said i would be charged for using the WI-FI if i did not have a plan. Well i have been using the internet at my house all day with the sim card out of the phone and i am wondering how they will charg me for WI-FI when i dont even have at&t service yet. also i want to try loading skype for windows mob. to use on the wi-fi when in am overseas. has anyone else tried this????
